Starting January 2009, every new home by LifeStyle Builders will be built with the following ENERGY STAR® features:
1. Programmable Thermostats – Save energy and money with a program that automatically reduces heating and cooling usage in your home when it isn’t needed
2. Tight Construction – Our homes are sealed with caulks, foams, weather stripping, gaskets and door sweeps to reduce holes and cracks in the home’s “envelope”, reducing utility bills and improving the comfort and indoor air quality of your home while lowering maintenance costs
3. Effective Insulation – Properly installed insulation that meets or exceeds national code requirements helps achieve even temperatures throughout the home while using less energy
4. Properly Sized, Sealed and Insulated Ducts – Increases heating and cooling efficiency by as much as 20%
5. ENERGY STAR Qualified Windows – Advanced technologies, such as protective coatings and improved frame assemblies, help keep heat in during winter and out during summer, while also blocking damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furnishings
6. ENERGY STAR Qualified Light Bulbs – An ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) uses about 75% less energy than a comparable standard incandescent bulb and last 10x longer
7. ENERGY STAR Qualified Dishwashers – ENERGY STAR dishwashers use at least 41% less energy than the federal minimum standard for energy consumption and employ “smart” features that determine the necessary cycle length and water temperature
8. High-Efficiency Water Heaters – Heating water accounts for approximately 15% of a home’s energy use; high-efficiency water heaters use 10 to 50% less energy than standard models
Certification for an ENERGY STAR® Qualified Home:
Any buyer of a LifeStyle Builders “to be built” Signature Home or “pre-drywall” Designer Home may select to have their new home certified as an ENERGY STAR qualified home. With this Available Personal Choice, a third party independent Home Energy Rater will inspect and test the home during and after construction to verify that the home meets the EPA’s strict guidelines for energy efficiency.
